THE MYSTERIOUS GRAVEYARD
The wind blew hard and cold as I stood in the middle of nowhere.
“Where am I? Am I lost?”
It all started when Dad announced our annual camping trip to be this weekend. It was all going great until he asked me to go and get firewood for the fire. Now I am lost with no way of finding my way back to the campsite.
It is dark and I have been out here for ages. My legs start to feel like jelly. They are starting to wobble and then I fall, I hit the ground really hard. All I can see is darkness. Then I finally open my eyes. It feels like I have just woken up from a really long sleep. I slowly stand up and turn around, I freeze. This can’t be what I think it is. I look up at the big grey gravestone with a look of shock frozen on my face. Tears are welling up in my eyes as move towards this very mysterious gravestone. This can’t get any scarier. I hope I am dreaming or at least seeing things.
I go up and touch it. It really was there. On the front in big bold letters it said:
Walter Graham,
Father of Lisa and William Graham and Grandfather of Ashley Graham.
I froze, that was me, and Ashley Graham is me. I wish I could run and tell my parents.
This man had died when I was 3 years old. I don’t really remember much but I had heard so many wonderful stories about him. I turned around and sat down under a big dark tree. I had been out here for hours. How would I get back to my parents? I’m sure they would be worried about me by now. I was soon lost in thought. I could hear someone calling my name. It wasn’t in my head. I stood up and turned around. I felt like screaming but nothing would come out. Standing there in front of me was a tall figure. I was as white as a ghost. Wait a minute, it is a ghost. I finally got the courage to speak.
“Who are you?” I asked.
He took a moment to reply. He could see the caution on my face.
“My name is Walter Graham, who are you?”
I gasped.
“Ashley, your granddaughter.
He didn’t seem surprised. He just chuckled to himself. I didn’t no what was so funny. He looked up and saw me staring at him.
“Oh, I’m sorry” he said. “It’s just I have been watching you for a long time.”
This had to be a dream. I couldn’t be seeing a real ghost.
“You look a little lost, Can I help you?” he asked.
“Well, yes I am lost and how can you possibly help me?” I replied.
“Follow me” he said.
So I followed on getting a bit worried that he would get me even more lost. We then came to a little patch of grass. I had seen this before. I looked a little further up the track.
“There it is!” I screamed.
My caravan was right there. I thanked the ghost and gave him a big hug and then he was gone. I tried to tell my parents all about it but they just said my mind was playing tricks on me.
